Ping Fu is a globally influential figure at the intersection of science, art, and business, as well as the founder and CEO of of Geomagic, a 3D imaging company responsible for fundamentally changing the way products are designed and manufactured around the world. Honored as Inc. magazine’s 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year, Ping played an important role in pioneering various computing systems, including the software behind Netscape, Mozilla, and Internet Explorer. A celebrated memoirist whose book about growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution, Bend, Not Break, sat on the New York Times Bestsellers List, Ping was a member of President Obama’s National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and she currently sits on the Board of Directors at Live Nation Entertainment (NYSE: LYV), the Burning Man Project, and the Long Now Foundation, a San Francisco-based non-profit that seeks to become the seed of a very long-term cultural institution aimed at “creatively fostering responsibility” in the framework of the next 10,000 years.

Ping will speak at Arena* about her current work on the board of directors of The Long Now Foundation, a San Francisco-based non-profit that seeks to become the seed of a very long-term cultural institution aimed at “creatively fostering responsibility” in the framework of the next 10,000 years. Elevating values like longevity and cultural heritage, their projects include the construction of the Clock of the Long Now, a timepiece that will operate with minimum human intervention for ten millennia, and the Rosetta Project, an effort to preserve all languages that have a high likelihood of extinction over the period from 2000 to 2100.
