Born in Iran and raised in France, Ariana Vafadari is a composer and singer whose operatic roles include Nancy (Albert Herring by Britten), Dido and Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas by Purcell) with Stephen Stubbs and Jaap ter Linden, and Nerone (L’Incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi) with Emmanuelle Haïm at the Academy of Music of Paris, to name but a few in a career that has also seen her perform at the Toulon Opera, the Luxembourg Grand Theater, the Dijon Opera, and beyond. Through her music, Vafadari places high importance on her Iranian culture and has written songs on the Gathas, Persian poems, and the Kurd Malek Jan’s poetry.
